Priscilla Peña was born and raised in San Jose, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley. Art was never emphasized at the private schools where Priscilla attended. To compensate, she nourished her affinity for art by devoting every free moment to drawing portraits of Monkees’ band member, Davy Jones (whom she had a tiny little obsession with during middle school). The practice paid off and by the time she entered public high school and started taking art classes, she was more than ready for the challenge.
At the age of 13, Priscilla developed an intense interest in photography and signed up to shoot pictures for the school yearbook. Ask anyone who knew her at the time and they will confirm the fact that she carried a camera with her absolutely everywhere!
Priscilla continues to use photography and sketching to document everyday life. As an avid traveler, she especially enjoys capturing the essence of places she visits. Because of the support and motivation she received from an inspiring ninth grade art teacher, Priscilla is enrolled at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, pursuing her dream of becoming a graphic designer. |
